Investment in Corby has grown significantly over the past decade and now the Arts Council of England has awarded the Made in Corby team almost £900,000.
Made in Corby is a project that aims to inspire local people to take the lead in experiencing, creating and taking part in high quality arts and cultural activities. The organisation, one of seven across England to receive a share of the £6.3m funding, will now continue until 2020!
This is great news for the town as the funding will go towards an innovative and inspiring programme of arts activity. It has been announced that the programme will centre around three festivals reflecting the fact that Corby is the fastest growing UK borough outside of London.
Corby has seen investment in the town flourish and as a result we have a new town centre, a civic centre in the Corby Cube, a 50m swimming pool and a cinema. It’s certainly a different town now than it was a decade ago. The Office for National Statistics expects the population of our town to surge by nearly 17 per cent to 76,400 by 2024.
The High Street Bakery are always happy to support local causes and we’re thrilled that the Made in Corby team have secured further funding. Arts and culture is important in making the place we live vibrant, exciting and inspiring. We’re looking forward to seeing what the team comes up with to celebrate!
